The Kishimojin Summer Market transforms the usually quiet temple grounds of Zoshigaya Kishomojindo into a lively summer festival. Stalls sell morning glories (asagao), wind chimes, and offer goldfish scooping — classic Japanese summer festival traditions.
The market runs for three days in early July, with food stalls serving yakisoba, kakigori, and other festival classics. It is a wonderful chance to experience a traditional temple market in a peaceful neighborhood setting, 15 minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station.
鬼子母神堂の夏市は、普段静かな雑司ヶ谷鬼子母神堂の境内が賑やかな夏祭りに変身。朝顔や風鈴の販売、金魚すくいなど、日本の夏祭りの定番が出店に並びます。
7月上旬の3日間開催。焼きそば、かき氷など定番の祭りフードも。池袋駅から徒歩15分の落ち着いた住宅街で、伝統的な寺市を体験できる貴重な機会です。

Morning glories (asagao) sell out by 11:00 — go early if you want plants.
朝顔は11:00には売切れることも。植物が欲しいなら早めに。
Goldfish scooping is ¥100-300 per try — popular with children.
金魚すくいは1回¥100-300。子供に人気。
Combine with a visit to the nearby Otori Shrine (5-min walk).
近くの大鳥神社（徒歩5分）と合わせて参拝できる。
