About This Event / イベントについて
Hanamatsuri celebrates the birth of Buddha. At Zoshigaya Kishimojindo, a small flower-decorated hall (hanamidō) is set up in the temple grounds, housing a statue of the baby Buddha. Visitors ladle sweet tea (amacha) over the statue in a gentle, contemplative ritual.
The temple is dedicated to Kishimojin, the goddess of safe childbirth and child-rearing, making this celebration especially meaningful for families. The event is free, quiet, and welcoming — a peaceful spring ritual far from the crowds of Ikebukuro, just 15 minutes on foot from the station.
