About This Event / イベントについて
The Somei Yoshino Cherry Blossom Festival takes place at the very birthplace of Japan's most iconic cherry tree variety. The Somei Yoshino — the cherry blossom that paints Japan pink each spring — was cultivated in the Somei district of Komagome (now part of Toshima Ward) during the Edo period.
The small memorial park features a stone monument marking the birthplace. The festival includes local food stalls, commemorative events, and the chance to see cherry trees near their original home. A short walk from JR Komagome Station, it pairs well with nearby Rikugien or Koishikawa Botanical Gardens.

近くの六義園（徒歩10分）と合わせて花見1日にできる。
The memorial monument is small — look for it near the park entrance.
記念碑は公園入口付近にある。見落とさないように。
Food stalls open from 10:00 and close by 16:00; arrive early for the best selection.
屋台は10:00～16:00。早めに来ると良いものが残っている。
