About This Event / イベントについて
TOKYO MET SaLaD MUSIC FESTIVAL (サラダ音楽祭) has run since 2018 with the motto Sing and Listen and Dance. In 2026 the Ikebukuro main programme grows to three days, 11–13 September, centred on Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre (about two minutes from Ikebukuro Station West Exit; underground exit 2b connects).
Friday 11 September, 19:00: the main concert Boléro — Toshiaki Umeda conducts the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra with Noism Company Niigata and the New National Theatre Chorus (Grieg, Rutter Gloria, Ravel Ma mère l’Oye and Boléro). Tickets ¥2,000–¥7,000; preschoolers not admitted.
Saturday and Sunday add OK! Orchestra (babies welcome), Elena Kats-Chernin’s children’s opera The Story of Valemon, the Ice Bear King (in Japanese), and a family Carnival of the Animals dance programme (adults ¥1,500 / ages 3–high school ¥500). Workshops, “Anyone’s Piano” with Yamaha, string and wind lessons with TMSO players, and drop-in mini-concerts run around the theatre and nearby commercial spaces. Organisers include Tokyo Metropolitan Government, TMSO, the theatre, Toshima City, Mitsubishi Estate, and Tobu Railway.
