Nihon no Shokutaku Tsukumi, whose name means the Japanese dining table, sits on the 11th-floor Spice restaurant floor of Tobu Ikebukuro and sets out to recreate the forgotten shape of a family meal at home. Each set is built as an ozen, with rice, miso soup and small side dishes arranged together, so guests can enjoy the comfort of a home table without cooking it themselves. Around 50 to 58 seats make for a calm, family-friendly room with baby chairs, a children menu and wheelchair and buggy access. The menu reaches across fish, meat and rice dishes, with standouts such as silver cod saikyo-yaki, black-vinegar fish ankake, avocado bara chirashi don, mackerel dry-fish set and sea bream sesame don. Rice comes as a choice of white or five-grain hijiki, and the kitchen also prepares kamameshi cooked one pot at a time, plus donburi, soba and Japanese sweets. Hours run from 11:00 to 22:00 with last orders at 21:30, and budgets sit comfortably in the department-store mid-range. For a restful, well-balanced Japanese meal in the heart of Ikebukuro, Tsukumi offers a genuinely soothing table. Its ozen-style sets, careful service and family-friendly touch make it a reliable choice for lunch, dinner or a quiet meal with older or younger companions.Operating Hours
