Oyama is a Hakata-style motsunabe restaurant on the 8th floor of Ikebukuro PARCO, specialising in the Fukuoka-born hot-pot dish made with beef offal, vegetables and a rich, warming broth. The restaurant traces its culinary lineage to the respected Fukuoka establishment Yamachu, and its signature broth is a closely guarded blend of Kyushu miso, Saikyo miso and other seasonings that gives the soup its deep, complex flavour.

The motsunabe itself is the star: a generous pot of plump, high-grade wagyu offal simmered with cabbage, garlic chives and tofu in the house's secret-recipe miso or soy-based broth. Diners can choose between miso and soy sauce bases, both of which pair beautifully with the additional course of champon noodles or rice porridge cooked in the remaining broth at the end of the meal. A la carte sides from the Hakata repertoire — such as mentaiko, sesame mackerel and crispy gyoza — round out the menu.

The restaurant is open from 11:00 to 23:00, with last food orders at 22:00, making it one of the later dining options in the PARCO building. Lunchtime runs from 11:00 to 16:00 and offers more affordable set meals. The venue is directly connected to Ikebukuro Station, and the energetic, convivial atmosphere makes it well suited to group dining.
